Obituary of Monica Therese Hardwick
NEW GLASGOW – Monica Therese Hardwick, 83, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 27, 2020 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax.
Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Hollahan) Brommit. Prior to retirement, Monica was employed as a Secretary with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, CCG Halifax. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. Monica had served for many years with the Catholic Women’s League, St. Ann’s, Thorburn. She was known for family gatherings where her cooking and baking were enjoyed by all. She also was amazing at knitting and crocheting. Monica lived for yard sales with family and to visit local charity shops with her sister and brother. For Monica, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Gerald Adrian Hardwick: daughters, Nicole (Reid) Smith, Dartmouth; Kelly (Dana) Smith, Oxford; sons, Barry (Kathy) Hardwick, New Glasgow; William (Mary Ellen) Hardwick, Halifax; grandchildren, Nathan, Jordan, Autumn, Skylar, Jeremy, Evan, Adam, Olivia, Eleanor and Adrian; great-grandchildren; Marjorie, Josie and ‘soon-to-be’ Charlie. Sister, Paula Jarvis, Dartmouth; brother, John “Jackie” (Patti) Brommit, Spryfield; many special nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Laura Anne, in childbirth; sisters, Alice in infancy, Joyce and Jean; brothers, John and Patrick in infancy, William, Ralph, Clyde and Ivan.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held in at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson presiding. Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Egerton.
