Obituary of George William Robson
PINE TREE – George William Robson, 85, Pine Tree, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after a brief illness.
Born in Pine Tree, he was a son of the late Norman and Amelia (Greene) Robson. George had been employed with the former McBain Colliery, Eastern Wood Workers, Maritime Trailer Sales, retiring from Michelin Tire, Granton, in 1990. He was a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Thorburn where he had served as Warden. George was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and after retirement became a skilled rug hooker. George’s family was the most important part of his life.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the love of his life, Margaret (Forsyth) Robson; daughters, Helen Gallant, Chance Harbour; Beverly (Clair) Vardon, Joanne Robson, Calgary, Alta.; sons, Charlie (Nancy), Halifax; Norman (Helen), Pine Tree; Howard (Debbie), Merigomish; Paul (Rhonda), Oromocto, N.B.; Gary, Stellarton; sister, Marjorie Forsyth, Thorburn; brother, Lloyd, Moncton, N.B.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Catherine Roy, Jean Murray, Edith Russell, Evelyn Fraser, Florence Goodwin, Norma Collins and Louise, in infancy; brothers, John, Kenneth and Bob.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28th with Archdeacon Peter Armstrong officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery, Thorburn.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in George’s memory to St. Alban’s Anglican Church or Thorburn War Memorial Fund.
