Leon was such a great friend during our years at Acadia in the '80s. I still remember him vividly. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was listening to a CD he had put together for me with tunes from our Acadia bands. A generous and caring person, great drummer, solid bandmate - you will be missed. My condolences to Diane and family.

Diane, know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss your nightly walk down Duchess Avenue, I personally will miss the close ties I had with Pastor Leon during our Remembrance Day Services at the Cenotaph in Trenton and the weeks prior to November 11th, he was always there to offer a helping hand to the Royal Canadian Legion #29 and we were so honored to have him onboard with us. A gentleman who left a big mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

You may not remember, but you both stayed at our home many years ago when Leon was attending a function at the Sherwood Church. As so many have already shared, just the mention of Leon’s name brings back a collage of memories. Leon was the first man of God that I ever met that was real to the depths. He was not afraid of imperfections, to speak to the broken and to offer hope. I was blessed to have him baptize me into the family of God and know that I will see him again. I cherish many wonderful memories of his warm presence, singing to my young daughter, speaking into my marriage, sharing in games and adventures with Diane. How much he will be missed by so many.. so long for now Leon … I just know that God has already met you with those words you so longed to hear, “ Well done, good and faithful servant!”

I met Leon at university in Wolfville around 1981-82 when we were both student DJs at Radio Acadia. While we did not stay in touch after school, I learned years later he had entered the ministry. When I read of his passing, I was deeply saddened, and remembered him as such a nice young guy. From my photo albums I found a picture of Leon in the music library at the campus station, where he spent many hours prepping for his shows. I am so glad his love of music continued throughout life. Condolences to his family and congregation.

In a matter of a few seconds, I experienced a flood of wonderful memories from our younger years when I received the sad news of Leon's passing. Most of the memories were associated with our mutual love of music (usually of the harder rock genre, much to the chagrin of many of whom were within earshot of us). Leon was one of the good guys...his entire life. Our family sends our love and condolences.

Diane and Leon were a special pastor couple to Scott and I. As younger pastors they shared a heart and understanding that comforted and touched us very deeply. Scott and Leon had a mutual passion for Christian heavy metal and the two of them were so excited to share this love every time we were able to see each other. We will deeply miss the prayer time and talks we have shared over the years at retreats and camp. Leon was a beautiful man with a heart of gold, and we will miss him this side of heaven. Diane, Tanya&Nicholas, Stephanie&Jerrod and families. So many wonderful memories flood our minds of times spent together. Graduations, parties, tea room, cheese cake, music, drums and lots of Jesus. I can remember one Sunday I was headed to church very irritated, yes pastors and wives have bad days on Sundays sometimes. I dropped off my husband and kids and went on a hill in Windsor that over looked the water. I sat there and prayed to cool down before going into church. The heat in my spirit had not quite died down but I needed to get there. I walked in on the piano side of the church and proceeded to watch Leon drum. I called him the happy drummer as there he was bouncing from his butt cheeks to the beat with the biggest grin on his face. Two bars of his playing diffused all the anger with in me that day. That was a real gift for me as it allowed me to enter into worship. I told Leon about what happened but he never seemed to love compliments. How I appreciated him and the love that grew within him for Jesus. I always thought that he was such a gift for the Reekie women. He will always be loved and thought of with fondness and appreciation. We will be praying for you and your families With much love
