Obituary of John George Baillie
CHANCE HARBOUR ROAD– It is with deep sadness that the family of John George Baillie, 91, Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home, Trenton, formerly of Chance Harbour Road, announce his passing on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by his family.
Born in Glenfalloch, he was a son of the late Alfred Thompson Whidden and Eva (Marshall) Baillie. John was employed as a machinist with the former Trenton Works for 45 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. John’s greatest joy was his family, whom he dearly loved. He looked forward to the many visitors he received, especially those bearing sweets.
Surviving are daughters, Mary (Simon) MacDonald, New Glasgow; Laura (Donald) Trowell, Plymouth; sons, John James (Debbie), Thompson (Rose), Charlie (Yvonne) and Robert (Carla), all of Chance Harbour Road; sisters, Edna (Jim) MacLean, Chance Harbour Road; Elsie Simon, New Glasgow; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife and best friend of 61 years, Annie Beatrice (Barnett) Baillie; sisters, Adelaide and Laura; brothers, Thomas and Robert.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, September 5th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
