THORBURN – Simon Michael Benoit, 35, Thorburn, formerly of Merigomish passed away suddenly, Thursday, June 19, 2008. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Mary Dorothy (Richards) Benoit, Thorburn and the late Joseph Michael Benoit. He was employed with S. Allen & Sons, New Glasgow and had been previously employed with William’s Brothers, Barney’s River and Hugh Park & Sons, Sutherland’s River. Simon enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and spending time with friends. He was a loving son, father, grandfather and brother. Surviving besides his mother, Mary are his daughters, Lacey and Sara, Trenton; son, Michael, Trenton; grandson, Jacob, Trenton; wife, Christina, Trenton; sisters, Charlene (Russell) Mailman, Westville; Rose, Jane, Thorburn; brothers, Fred (Wendy), Thorburn; Fred (Charlene) Cormier, Plymouth; mother-in-law, Carolyn Taylor, Trenton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Merigomish. Donations in his memory will be gratefully accepted by his family.
