Obituary of William Ellsworth Fraser

WOODFIELD - William Ellsworth Fraser, 75, Woodfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2010 in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Bloomfield, Pictou County, he was a son of the late William Burton and Catherine Olive (MacIntosh) Fraser. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain where he served on the Board of Managers. Prior to retirement, Ellsworth was employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Highways and C&G Williams Ltd. Following retirement, he enjoyed farming, Christmas tree growing, harvesting blueberries and maple syrup. Ellsworth enjoyed the forest, hunting, fishing, playing guitar and listing to old-time music. He was a devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Minetta Ann (Langille); daughters, Glenda (Ronnie) Fraser, Garden of Eden; Gloria (David) Doiron, Hilden; Wendy Fraser (Craig MacDonald), Brookfield; sons, Robert (Marlene), The Ponds; Kevin (Tracy), Sutherland's River; sister, Muriel Foote, New Glasgow; brother, Brian Fraser, Woodfield; 16 grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughters, Lorna Jane Fraser and Catherine Roma Wynn Forsyth; sister, Joyce MacMillan. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 28th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 29th in a Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain with Pastor Pat Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Eden Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to Knox Presbyterian Church.
