Obituary of Harold Joseph DeMont

LINACY – Harold Joseph DeMont, 73, Linacy, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Harry Harding and Margaret Gertrude (Nearing) DeMont. Harold was a truck driver from the time he obtained his driver’s license until becoming employed as a dispatcher with DeMont’s Transport from where he retired several years ago. During the summer months, Harold enjoyed spending time at the campground with his wife, Bev and, entertaining friends and family. Surviving are his wife, Beverly Rorison; daughters, Mary Ward and Wanda (Michael) O’Neil, Halifax; step-daughters, Sherry Redding (Andrew), Bedford; Cindy (David) Giasson, Innisfil, Ont.; Kelly Phillips, Westville; grandchildren, Tyler, Brittany, Sean, Brandon, Ryan, Hayley and Ismini; sister, Catherine MacDonald, Pine Tree; brother, Doug (Maria), New Glasgow; aunt, Violet “Vi” Forward, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews. In honour of Harold’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held. Donations may be made in Harold’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Pictou County SPCA.
