Obituary of Marilyn Isabel Cormier

ABERCROMBIE – Marilyn Isabel Cormier, 81, Abercrombie, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Amos and Isabel Alban “Lou” (Smith) Craig. Marilyn was a woman of poise and grace, intelligence and beauty. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Marilyn enjoyed the beauty and warmth of summer, long walks and the people she met along the way. She especially enjoyed the many winters spent in Pelican Cove, Sarasota, Florida. Marilyn attended the former St. John’s Academy, New Glasgow, was a graduate of the former St. Elizabeth Hospital, North Sydney, Mount Saint Vincent and Dalhousie Universities, Halifax. She served as supervisor of the Obstetrics ward at the Aberdeen Hospital before becoming an instructor with the former Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing. Marilyn served as Administrator of the Riverview Adult Residential Centre and as a nursing consultant with the Nova Scotia Health Services and Insurance Commission. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Jacques; daughter, Michele (Ken Johnson), Halifax; son, Craig (Stacy), Vancouver, B.C.; grandson, Kai; sister, Colleen Keay, New Glasgow; brothers, Frank (Jean) Craig, New Glasgow; Robert “Bob” Craig, Dartmouth. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Fred and Bill. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 1st in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson presiding. Donations may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
