Obituary of Cyril J. Arnold

NEW GLASGOW – Cyril Joseph Arnold, 76, Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014. Born in Upper Musquodoboit Valley, he was a son of the late Morris Colin and Ann Eunice (Chaplin) Arnold. In his late teens, Cyril enlisted in the Canadian Army, serving for seven years, including a peacekeeping tour in Germany for three years, obtaining the rank of corporal. He was employed with William Stairs Son & Morrow Ltd, Halifax for three years. Prior to retirement, Cyril was employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation for many years. Surviving are daughter, Michelle Lynne Arnold, Ontario; brothers, Hughie Arnold, Chaplin Settlement; Elroy (Diane) Arnold, Clam Harbour; Bernie Arnold, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Sylvia Broughm and Mary Hattie. The family will receive visitors 1 – 1:50 p.m. Sunday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Morrison officiating. Interment will be in Glen Bard Cemetery.
