Obituary of L. Paul MacLennan

ASPEN – Paul L. MacLennan, 64, Aspen, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 18, 2019 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Allison Joy MacLennan, Helen May (Langley) MacLennan and stepfather, Bryce Lloyd Jack. Paul was a heavy equipment operator, who could turn his hand to anything. He was an avid racing fan and drove street stock at Riverside Speedway for many years, passing the love of the sport onto his four boys. Paul was a car show enthusiast and traveled throughout in his 55 Chevy, “stopping at every Tim’s” along the way. Spending time with his wife, “four boys”, “four girls” and “four ladies” was the greatest joy in his life. Surviving are his wife, Marie; sons, Robie (Melodie), Glenelg; Russell (Tara), Lochaber; Jamie (Mandi), Country Harbour; Paul “JR” (Ashley), Country Harbour; granddaughters, Kaili, Paula, Asa and Lexi; sisters, Darlene MacLennan (Mike Malloy), Linacy; Jenny (Wilfred) Sponagle, Country Harbour; Irene (Bruce) Shaw, East River St. Mary’s; Pat (Borden) Rhuland, Lunenburg; brothers, Freddy, Halifax; Jimmie (Dana), Springville; Roland (Peggy), New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Nancy MacLennan, Truro; mother-in-law, Minnie McGrath, Sherbrooke; several aunts; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and stepfather, he was predeceased by brothers, Johnny and Alex “Tud”; sister-in-law, Marion; several aunts and uncles. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 21st in Kirk Memorial United Church, Aspen from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 22nd with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Donations may be made in Paul’s memory to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation Palliative Care.
