Obituary of Donna Bell Guthro

NEW GLASGOW – Donna Bell Guthro, 93, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 25, 2020 in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late Duncan Alexander and Ethel Matilda (Fraser) Kennedy. During the Second World War she was employed in the Gun Shop making gear boxes. Following she had been employed with the former Goodman’s Department Store, McRae’s Restaurant and the Steel Furnishing Company, New Glasgow. Prior to retirement, Donna was employed as a seamstress with Wearwell Garments. She was a member of the former Gun Shop Club. In earlier years, Donna enjoyed skating, knitting and doing puzzels. She worked hard to provide for her five children of whom she was very proud. Donna leaves a legacy of love and perseverance. Surviving are daughters, Caroline (Allan) Marshall, Toronto, Ont.; Joan Cullen, Trenton; Brenda (Craig) Ryan, Westville; sons, Nicholas Guthro, Durham; Jerry (Cathy) Guthro, Trenton; grandchildren, Nicholas, Kim, Bob, Donald, David, Stanley, James, Shauna, Gerald, Tanya and Melanie; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kris, Isaac, Danny, Santana, Beverly, Ruth, Patricia, Sam, Kailey, Keanna, Sawyer, Madelyn, Connor, Tyler, Lilly, Julie, Dylan, Star, Blake, Blair and Emily; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by grandson, Mike Cullen; sister, Alice Fraser; brothers, Fraser and Winston Kennedy; sister-in-law, Helen Kennedy In honour of Donna’s wishes her family will celebrate her life privately with interment in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
