Obituary of Shirley Ann Kehoe

COALBURN – Shirley Ann Kehoe, 82, Coalburn, formerly of Pleasant Valley, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late William Elliott and Hazel Marshall (MacDonald) DeWolfe. Shirley was a member of Green Hill – Alma United Church where she taught Sunday school and cared for babies in the nursery. She was a founding member of the Alma Women’s Institute and had been very active in community activities while living in Pleasant Valley. Shirley was a member of the former Ceilidh Pipe Band which preformed at the opening of the Cape Breton Causeway. She was founding member of the Fraser Holmes Memorial Pipe Band and enjoyed traveling and preforming, including many appearances at the Nova Scotia International Tattoo. Shirley enjoyed camping with family and friends. Her family was her priority, she and her husband, Gordon, lovingly raised four children and enthusiastically embraced each new grand and great grandchild that entered the family. Shirley leaves a rich legacy of a loving and supportive mother who entrenched good values and a sense of humour in her children. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Gordon; daughter, Debbie Wilson, Coalburn; sons, Charlie (Earlene) Kehoe, Westville; Grant (Darlene) Kehoe, Crossfield, Alta.; Graham (Brenda) Kehoe, Enfield; grandchildren, Carly (Cobee), Charles (Leeanne), James (Nancy), Jill (James), Adam (Mirelle), Geoffrey (Jen), Melissa (Devin), Tristan, Tad (Megan) and Derik; great grandchildren, Koa, Hallie, Rory, Connor, Lumi, Penelope and Amelia; brothers, Elliott (Carol) DeWolfe, Calgary, Alta.; Jim (Carmen) DeWolfe, Little Harbour; former sister-in-law, Diane Breen, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son-in-law, Murray Wilson. A private graveside service will be held.
