Obituary of Gerhard Wilhelm Hormann

LISMORE – Gerhard Wilhelm Hormann, 83, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Lismore, Ajax, Ont. and Germany, passed away, Sunday, February 14, 2016 in the Manor. Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, he was a son of the late Walter Wilhelm Eduard and Irma Bertha Johanna (Frost) Hormann. Gerhard studied electrical engineering and upon graduation, moved to Ulm, Germany where he worked as a radar engineer in high frequency technology. His profession required him to travel to many countries, including the United States, Canada and Lybia to work. He met his wife, Rosina, in Ulm and in 1981 they moved, with their daughter, Dagmar, to Ajax where he continued to work as an engineer. Upon retirement, he and Rosina, moved to Lismore, where they enjoyed the open space, beautiful scenery and developing new friendships. Surviving are his wife, Rosina (Vietzke), Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow; children, Dagmar and her sons, Marvin and Patrik; Wolfgang and children, Tamara, Marc Philipp and Nina; Karin and her daughter, Saskia, all residing in southern Germany; brother, Walter, Stuttgart, Germany. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
