Obituary of Marilyn Elizabeth MacCuish

TRENTON - Marilyn Elizabeth “Chickie” MacCuish, 67, of Trenton, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at home. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Murdock and Love (Malloy) MacEwan. She was a member of First United Church, Trenton. Chickie owned and operated Steeltown Day Care and Chickie’s Variety for several years. She enjoyed gardening, Tim Horton's Coffee and the Weather Channel. Chickie loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Matthew) MacKay; Trenton; son, Jim Jr. (Paula), Trenton; grandchildren, Megan, Rebecca, Dylan, Brandi, Tori and Keeley; sisters, Margaret “Dokie” (Phillip) Stewart, Thorburn; Patricia “Whitey” (Jim) MacKinnon, MacLellan’s Brook; Edna (Ross) Martin, Trenton; brother, Shelly Smith, Hillside, numerous nieces and nephews. Chickie was predeceased by her grandson, Matthew MacKay Jr., former husband, James Wayne “Jim” MacCuish, sisters, Tena Mercanti, Betty MacEwan; Brother, Louis Smith, sisters-in-laws, Linda and Greta “Diddles” Smith. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 16th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 17th in the Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Trenton. Donations may be made in Chickie's memory to the IWK Health Centre Foundation or the SPCA.
