Obituary of Nellie Christine Cooke
LINACY - Nellie Christine Cooke, 92, Linacy passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 28,2010 in the Valley View Villa, Riverton surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John “Jack” and Margaret Ann (English) Brown. Nellie was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, and had been involved with the Linacy Home and School Association. She enjoyed attending card parties and social events at the former Linacy School. Nellie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who derived her greatest joy in life from her family.
Surviving are her children, Shirley (Jack) Wieler, Carlton Place, Ont.: William “Bill Jr.” (Erma) Cooke, MacLellan’s Brook; Wayne (Bernadette) Cooke, Trenton; Sharon (Tom) Dudka, Sheila (Edgil) Hayter, Linacy; sister, Doris Salter, Mount William Road; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Henry Cooke, and nephew John Howard Salter.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct 2 in Union Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery.
