Obituary of S. Arthur Phillips
LINACY – S. Arthur “Art” Phillips, 68, Linacy, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 1, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in O’Leary, P.E.I., he was a son of Pansy Etta (Ellis) Phillips, O’Leary, P.E.I. and the late Thomas Wyman Phillips. He had been a long haul trucker for 36 years and had been employed with Hodgson’s Chipping Limited for six years prior to retirement in 2005. Besides truck driving, he enjoyed music, playing the mandolin and fiddle. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Nellie J. (Getson); daughter, Shelly Phillips and her children, Ryan, Kyle and Meggan, Brampton, Ont.; sister, Leta McNaught, O’Leary; brother, Charles (Lillian) Phillips, Coleman, P.E.I.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no visitation by request, a public graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 5th in MacLean Cemetery, Hopewell with Rev. John Roy officiating.
