Obituary of John Albert Jewell
NEW GLASGOW – John Albert “Skip” Jewell, 73, New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Albert Kitchener Gero and Eunice Letitia Jewell. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. In earlier years, Skip was employed in construction and as a welder with Trenton Works. He was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow. Skip enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and going to Sobeys to have coffee with the gang. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Theresa Barron; daughters, Melissa Barron (John), New Glasgow; Kara Wood, Stellarton; sons, Shane Barron (Sonya), New Glasgow; Shawn McFarlane (Natalie), New Glasgow; Dana Jewell (Karen), Grande Prairie, Alta.; Jayson Skinner (Barbie), Halifax; grandchildren, Savana, Aaliyah, Alyssa, Alexa, Dylan, Blake, Jordan, Emileo, Katara, Pheonix, Andre, Sayjon, Jakii, Trevon, Veronica and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Kiyairah and Akiyrah; sisters, Tracey MacKinnon (Clifton) and Valerie MacKinnon, Toronto, Ont.; brothers, Wayne MacKinnon (Denis), Ottawa, Ont.; Leslie MacKinnon (Kathy), Bailey’s Brook; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Maynard MacKinnon.
