Obituary of Marion Winnifred Smith
PRIESTVILLE – Marion Winnifred “Mary” Smith, 79, Priestville, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at home, surrounded by her daughters.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Thomas John and Genevieve Elvira (Miller) Pennington. Prior to retirement, Mary was employed with Sobeys and was one of the first Deli employee’s. Previously she had been employed with the former Home Stretch Meat Market, Gammell’s Jewelry Store and Roseland Theatre. Mary was a great conversationalist, terrific wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy (Terry) MacLeod, Pauline (Fraser) Holmes, Priestville; grandchildren, Kevin MacLeod and his son, Clayton Ace, Alberta; Ashley Holmes (Dean), British Columbia; Fraser Asa Holmes (Krystal) and their daughter, Presley, Little Harbour; sister, Bernadette (Dennis) Vint, Stellarton; brother, Robert “Bob” Pennington, Old Truro Road; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Everett Asa “Ace” Smith; siblings, Jean Decoff, James, George, John, Bella Pennington and Chris Brown.
Mary was extremely appreciative of the many visitors that she received in her home over the past four months and told her family that she wished no visitation or funeral service because she was fortunate to have her visitation while she was alive.
