GREENWOOD – Vincent Alexander MacDonald, 82, Greenwood, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was the only child of the late James Frederick “Fred” and Marguerite Grant (MacKinnon) MacDonald. He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. Vince owned and operated Vincent A. MacDonald Automotive from 1955 until retirement in 1992. He was a 50-year jewel holder and life member of Hudson Lodge No 77, A.F. & A.M., Thorburn. Vince enjoyed playing the fiddle and was a founding member of the Pictou County Fiddlers Association and a member of the Maritime Fiddlers Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Vince was passionate about music and freely shared his musical gift. He greatly enjoyed playing at the local seniors and nursing homes. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mary “Dolly” (Sheehan); daughters, Charmaine Cameron (Robie), New Glasgow; Sherri (Andy) Hecimovich, Springville; son, Vince (Wanda) MacDonald, Greenwood; granddaughters, Ashley (Denny), Nakita, Angela (Rodney), Amber (Dale), Allison (Derrick), Lauren and Emma; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Dawson, Maya and Ethan. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2nd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3rd in First Presbyterian Church, 208 MacLean Street, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in McLennan’s Mountain Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
