Obituary of Lovina Mae Butler

NEW GLASGOW – Lovina Mae “Vinie” Butler, 86, Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 in the home, surrounded by her family. Born in Shediac, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Mathias “Mike” and Helena Hazel (Giddings) Legere. In earlier years Vinie owned and operated the former Vinie’s Beauty Shop. She was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow and had served as treasurer for the UCW, Unit A for many years. Vinie was proud to serve as the “voice” of the residence council at the Maritime Odd Fellows Home and grateful for the friendships she developed. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. Surviving are daughter, Arlene Butler (Scott MacLean), Woodstock, N.B.; son, Paul (Crystal) Butler, Antigonish; grandchildren, Angel, Shane, Morgan, Michael and Shelby; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Catherine; sisters, Helen MacInnis, Stellarton; Ellen Murphy, Hillside; Sylvia (Bob) Hawboldt, Churchville; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Butler; sisters, Bessie Eva in infancy and Linda Fraser. In honour of Vinie’s wishes a private celebration of her life will be held. If desired, donations in memory of Vinie would be gratefully accepted by her family. The Butler family wish to express their gratitude to the Maritime Odd Fellows staff for their kindness and the wonderful care Vinie received. Arrangements are entrusted to P. & K.
