NEW GLASGOW – Lillian Mary Curley, 72, New Glasgow, left the embrace of her family and entered the presence of her Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow. Born in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late Patrick Joseph “Pat” and Marie Leona (Cyr) White. Prior to retirement she was employed with Sobeys for over 20 years. Lillian was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, where she was very active in parish life, especially the choir and Cursillo. She enjoyed music, served with the inter-parish choir and was a member of the Keltic Chords. Lillian expressed her Christian faith through many charitable and community endeavours. She greatly enjoyed bowling, fishing, crafting, swimming, skating and socializing with her friends. Lillian lived life to the fullest. Her legacy will be the values she imparted to her children by example. Surviving are her daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” (Peter) Furhovde, Calgary, Alta; Carol (Mike) Hatfield, Coalburn; Gail (Clinton) Jewell, Maple Ridge, B.C.; Maureen (Kelvin) Cooke, Hammonds Plains; sons, Walter Jr. (Joy), New Glasgow; Gavin (Tamara), North Vancouver, B.C.; grandchildren, Carolyn (Corey), Charlene, Wayne, Jeffrey, Nicole, CJ, Keigan, Clerissa, Ashley, Mason and Walter III; sisters, Mary (Danny) Hughes, New Glasgow; Jean (Millard) Harroun, Pictou; Linda (Mike) O’Shea, Meadowville; brother, Raymond (Judy) White, Canso; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Walter Alexander Curley Sr. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Lillian’s memory to Aberdeen Palliative Care Society. “Forever in our hearts.”
