Obituary of Michael Douglas Cullen

TRENTON – Michael Douglas “Mike” Cullen of Trenton, passed away peacefully in his sleep. Mike recently celebrated his 44th birthday on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Born in Glasgow in 1976, he was a son of Joan Laura (Guthro) Cullen, Trenton and Robert Gerald Cullen, Westville. Mike was a graduate of Trenton High School, class of 1995 and Compu College Business School, Halifax (Computer Repair Technician), class of 1998. He was employed with Needs Store, New Glasgow for 25 years. Mike possessed a happy demeanor and cheerfully greeted each customer with a smile. You knew Mike was working when the “Little Green truck” was in the parking lot. He rarely missed a shift and worked every holiday so his colleagues could spend time with their families. Mike was a collector of vinyl records, an avid computer gamer and avid fan of the old WWE. He enjoyed hanging out with his long time Trenton High School buddies and numerous friends. Mike will be missed by all who knew him and those who stopped by the Needs Store late at night to chat. Surviving besides his parents, Joan and Robert, are brothers, Donald Cullen and David Cullen, Trenton; nieces and nephew, Kaitlin Cullen, Kris Cullen, Isaac Cullen, Danny Cullen and Santana Cullen; paternal grandmother, Marie (Logan) Cullen, Halifax; maternal grandmother, Donna Guthro, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow; aunts and uncles, Ann (Hector) Cullen-Johnston, Halifax; Jan Cullen-MacNeil (Joseph MacPherson), New Glasgow; Trish (Bill) Cullen-Beattie, Calgary, Alta.; Nick Guthro, Durham; Caroline (Allen) Marshall, Bancroft, Ont; Gerry (Cathy) Guthro, Trenton; Brenda (Craig) Ryan, Westville; cousins, Troy Johnson, Stan Ryan, Jim Ryan, Leigh MacNeil, Shannon MacNeil, Gerald Guthro, Tanya Curtis and Nicolas Guthro. Mike was pre-deceased by his paternal grandfather, Robert A. Cullen; great-grandmothers, Ruth Lottie (Withers) Cullen and Rita Logan; great-grandfathers, David Cullen and A.T. Logan. Mike will be interred in Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour, beside his grampie, Bob Cullen, where they will forever debate between “The Habs” and “The Leafs”. A public reception to celebrate Mike’s life will be held 3 - 5 p.m. Saturday, September 26th at the Little Harbour Community Center. If desired, donations in memory of Mike will be gratefully accepted by his family.
