Obituary of Lois Christina Cahoon

NEW GLASGOW – Lois Christina Cahoon, 87, New Glasgow, went to be with God on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Matthew Hope and Mary Janet (Fraser) Cooke. Lois was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow and CWL. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren. Lois was an avid reader and enjoyed friendly debate on a variety of subjects. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She relished in their accomplishments, along with those of her children. Lois believed that life only changes, it does not end and she now enjoys the company of loved ones who have gone before her. Surviving are children, Linda (Ronald) Wilkinson, Ronald (Paula), Brenda (Whit) Strickland; grandchildren, Lisa, Tracey, Joey, Robbie, Jeremy, Ryan, Christopher and Kelly; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anne Melanson and Katherine (Garfield) Halland; brother, Allan (Anne) Cooke; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur “Art” Cahoon; sister, Joyce MacDonald; brothers, Billy and Donnie Cooke; brother-in-law, Micky Melanson. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday Jan. 23 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Donald Boudreau presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in memory of Lois to Holy Cross Cemetery Fund or St. John the Baptist Parish.
