Obituary of Charles William Brooker

TRENTON / BROADWAY – Charles William “Bill” Brooker, PO1 (Ret’d), 79, East River Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Trenton and Broadway, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by family. Born on January 10, 1932 in Orillia, Ont., he was the son of the late Charles Milton and Jessie Elizabeth (German) Brooker. Bill served with the Canadian Navy from 1952 – 1978, retiring with the rank of Petty Officer 1st class. He was employed with Trenton Works from 1981 - 1991. He adopted Broadway as his home, where he lived for 30 years. Bill often expressed his fortune in having great neighbours, who became his extended family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Surviving are his daughters, Debbie (Mike) Hughes, Donna (Robert) Fraser, Trenton; sons, Bill Jr. (Barbara), Milton “Mal” (Loretta), Trenton; Joey, Riverton; Steven, Pictou Landing; sister, Ollie (Gerald) Walters, Coldwater, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Stacia Jordan, New Glasgow; brothers-in-law, Fred (Sharon) Charlton, Trenton; George (Marion) Charlton, Stellarton; Cecil (Nancy) Charlton, Pictou Landing; grandchildren, Jennifer, Patricia (Mike), Kathleen, Michael, Billy, Matthew, Bob, Adam (Cheryl), Chantal, Brad, Melanie, Christopher and Dustin; great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Charlotte, Elijah, Kailey and Aven; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife, Marjorie (Charlton); brother-in-law, Bill Charlton. The family will receive visitors 12 – 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment.
