Some of my earliest memories involve my father taking me to see my uncles play for the Black Watch Warriors hockey team at the base arena in Gagetown. As a nephew you could sneak inside the team dressing room between periods and mingle with the guys and observe their antics.. Duffy, Grump, and the rest of the warriors. No one was having more fun than those guys (except maybe me) and Duffy, always happy to see me with his bigger than life smiling toothless grin would always say “Hi Bobby" as soon as I walked in. I can see it now in my mind’s eye as clearly as I can still smell the French fries that came in those little paper trays with their wooden forks at the canteen, and hear the crowds of military families cheering on the Warriors in the unheated arena where we all played hockey and skated as kids. For me, Duffy has been the quiet gentle uncle that always had time for the kids that seemed to be around in droves back in those days. You always felt welcome around him and Brenda and knew without question that they loved you. My mother taught me to leave no doubt on this topic so we made certain of this by telling each other. I am missing him very much however he will always live on in my memories of growing up in Oromocto and the times we shared since then. Bob Walton.

Dear Aunt Brenda, Kevin, Kim, Janie and Family. Please accept my condolences on your deep loss. I know how much Uncle Duffy meant for you all and all of us. Know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers. There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love. Washington Irving Love, Cathy. Jeff.
