NEW GLASGOW – Joan Christine Addison, 86, New Glasgow, formerly of Trenton, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow and raised in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Frances (MacIntosh) Crockett. Joan was a member of First United Church, Trenton, where she served in the choir and UCW. She looked forward to meeting up with her friends at the Wednesday morning pancake breakfast at Sobey’s Westside. Joan enjoyed playing cards, attending church and Christmas teas, and was an avid sports fan. She appreciated the friendliness and hospitality afforded to her by several local restaurants. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Joan is survived by children, Judy (Dave) MacNeil, Linacy; Ronnie (Patsy) Addison, New Glasgow; Rich (Kelly) Addison, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) MacKenzie, Stephanie MacNeil (Adam Ross), Keith MacNeil (Melissa Saint Louis), Nicole Addison (Jacob Wiseman); Natalie, Kate, Matthew and David Addison; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ella and Leah MacKenzie; Derek, Connor and Taylor Ross; Madelyn and Elliana MacNeil; sister, Frances Burt, Westville; brother, Earl Crockett, Thorburn; sister-in-law, Carol Crockett, Sunridge, Ont.; brother-in-law, Roy (Fay) Addison, Tillsonburg, Ont.; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ronald “Ron” Addison; brothers, Jackie, Stead and Don. Joan’s family wish to thank all those who cared for her in the hospital and made possible her wish to return home with her family: the Aberdeen Hospital 4th floor, Palliative Care Unit and Continuing Care staff, Pictou County VON, EHS paramedics and family physician Dr. Melanie MacCara. The family will receive visitors 1-1:45 p.m. Sunday, November 28 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Private interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
