LINACY – Bernard Joseph “Butch” Gladney Jr., 60, Linacy, formerly of Trenton, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late Bernard Joseph Sr. and Audrey Marie (Ryan) Gladney. He was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. He was a former member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, Trenton. He served with the 1st Battalion, The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada from 1966-1969, where he had served a tour as a peacekeeper in Cyprus. Butch was a licensed mechanical technician and operated Butch’s Auto Service, Linacy. He had been previously employed with C.A. Matheson’s Irving, New Glasgow for 25 years and several other garages. Butch took great pride in his work and greatly enjoyed politics. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife, Luanne (Farrell) Gladney; sons, Jeremy (Crystal Pellerine), New Glasgow; Jason (Michelle Boyd), Loch Broom; Ritchie (Lisa) and son, Landon, New Glasgow; brothers, Kevin (Pat), Trenton; Ritchie (Crystal Baxter), Plymouth; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; his four-legged buddy, Boomer. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Sandy and Aggie Ryan; paternal grandparents, Richard and Mary Gladney. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, February 19th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 20th in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Trenton.
