Obituary of Angus John MacDonald

LINACY – Angus John MacDonald, 78, Linacy, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late John Dan and Mary Elsie (DeYoung) MacDonald and, the chosen son of the late William and Loretta Fougere. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, Knights of Columbus Council # 1667 and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, New Glasgow. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for three years, after which he was employed with John Rivers Trucking. He was employed as a welder with Trenton Works from 1964 until retirement in 1988. Angus was a passionate Montreal Canadians fan, as well, enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. His greatest love was his family. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Margaret Cecilia “Peggy” (MacDonald); sons, Tony, Toronto; Tim, Linacy; sisters, Mabel (Tom) Hanna, Halifax; Isabel (Jack) Hammond, Laggan; Bertha Ryan, Hamilton, Ont.; brothers, Spurgeon “Spurge”, Green’s Point; Colie (Mary Bell), Little Harbour; Tom (Louise), Pictou Landing; Dan (Irene), Thorburn; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by son, Jason; sisters, Annie Jane, Lizzie, Mary, Loretta; brothers, Joseph Fougere, William. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 5th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 6th in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
