Obituary of Florence Ghilda MacLaren
NEW GLASGOW / HALIFAX - Florence Ghilda MacLaren, 82, Halifax and New Glasgow, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 in Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Janet (Reid) MacLaren. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Florence was employed with the Federal government for 36 years, retiring as a supervisor with the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed baseball, hockey, skating and reading.
Surviving are sister, Muriel Cameron, Courtney, B.C.; nieces and nephews, Marion (Fred) Bonvie, Miller (Bonnie) MacLaren, New Glasgow; Jerry MacLaren, Narrows Road; David (Moria) Cameron, Blair (Nell)Cameron, Michael (Brenda) Cameron, British Columbia; Marylea (John) Reid, Ottawa; Cyril MacLaren, Calgary, Alta.; Jean Blades, Barbados.
She was predeceased by brothers, Carl, Cecil and Tom.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 1st and 1-2 p.m. Monday, March 2nd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Interment will be in Telford Cemetery at a later date.
