Obituary of Mary Ann Hughes
COALBURN – Mary Ann Hughes, 85, Coalburn, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Hilda (Brown) Patelakis. Prior to retirement, Mary was employed as a Personal Care Worker at Sunset Haven Rest Home, New Glasgow for many years. She was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who possessed a quiet, steadfast faith in her Lord.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Fred; daughters, Marjorie MacKenzie, New Glasgow; Carol Hughes (Gene), Coalburn; sons, Andrew (Margie), New Glasgow; John (Jana), Vernon, B.C.; sister, Georgina (Leslie) Latimor, Kingston, Ont.; many grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Eileen (Tom) Robinson, Beatrice (Baxter) MacArthur, Goldie Burrell and Barbara Rawding; brothers, George and John.
In honour of Mary’s wishes a private funeral service will be held.
