Obituary of E. Gregory Chisholm
With heavy hearts, the family of Ernest Gregory Chisholm, 74, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Westville Road, announces his peaceful passing on August 5th, 2021, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Greg was the beloved husband of Geraldine Anne “Jean” (Lewis) Chisholm for 49 years. After raising six children, the pair enjoyed frequent road trips in their retirement, even if the road trip was to pick up a burger and ice cream (Greg’s personal favorite). Dad was especially proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to make them laugh; Jeffery “Jeff”, Richard “Rick” (Stephanie), Kevin (Marsha), Wendy (Guy), Allan (Kate); grandchildren, Brandon, Amber, Logan, Anthony, Karleigh, Kevin, Katie, Kelsi, Harlow, Etta, Kaden, Liam, Kallan and Brantley; great-grandchildren, Lila and Rowan; siblings, Eldridge, Donald and Grace; many nieces and nephews.
Greg was predeceased by his daughter, Karen, and his parents, Ernest, and Grace.
Greg worked as a Bus Driver/Custodian for The Chignecto Central Regional School Board for 26 years. He always loved seeing the happy faces of the students he drove back and forth to school. Greg was a devoted member of the local CUPE union throughout his working years and always used his voice to advocate for fair and equitable decisions. Greg also voiced his strong sense of justice over the years with regular contributions to Letters to the Editor that were published by the local News paper.
Greg’s family wish to express their gratitude to the Glen Haven Manor staff and Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit Staff for the excellent care he received.
A private service will be held in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Churchville Cemetery.
If desired, donations may be made in Greg’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia Palliative Care Association. (Please click the underlined to donate online.)
Lovingly written by his family.
