NEW GLASGOW - Doris Veronica Ann “Dory” Pitts, 71, New Glasgow, passed away suddenly, Sunday April19, 2009, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Peter Simon and Mary Alice (Pelerine) DeCoste. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. For many years, Dory was employed as house keeper at St. John’s the Baptist Rectory. She enjoyed quilt making, cooking and baking. Her family and friends were extremely important and she cherished the moments when they came to visit. Surviving are daughters, Donna (Lee) McIntyre, New Glasgow; Corrine Burgoyne, New Glasgow; Terri Pitts (Heather Mulock),Vancouver, B.C.; son, Dean Pitts (Lori Lewis), New Glasgow; sisters, Janet (Rene) Pettipas, Larry’s River/Pine Tree; Kaye (Donnie) Hoare, Fraser’s Mountain; Patsy (Elmer) MacDonald, Little Harbour Road; Corrine (Hillard) MacDonald, New Glasgow; brother, Albert (Louise) DeCoste, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Tyler, Sara, Emma and Sophie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald George Pitts. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 22nd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23rd in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Gary MacPherson presiding. No flowers by request. Donations may be made in her memory to any charity of choice.
