Obituary of Anne Sylvia Ross

BLUE MOUNTAIN – Anne Sylvia Ross, 83, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Blue Mountain, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in the Villa, surrounded by her daughters. Born in Sutherland’s River, she was the youngest daughter of the late Thomas E. and Ella Mae (Pushie) MacLellan. Anne began teaching school at the age of 17 in Woodfield, completing her teaching career in 1982 at East River St. Mary’s. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain and the Lawrence Stewart Atlantic Missionary Society. She was the Charter President of the Blue Mountain Women’s Institute. Even in deteriorating health, Anne’s radiant smile and pleasant demeanour were ever present. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. Surviving are her daughters, Ellen (Dave) Sinclair, Sutherland’s River; Joan (Robert) Coady, Blue Mountain; Janet (Ron) Fisher, Stratford, P.E.I.; grandchildren, Sara (Mark), Mitchell (Jacklyn), Heidi, Elizabeth, David, John, Jennifer, Megan and Ryan; great-granddaughter, Avery; sisters, Helen English, New Glasgow; Wilda Sweet, Florida; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, D. Walter Ross; brother, Elmer MacLellan. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12th in Knox Presbyterian Church with Pat Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Blue Mountain Cemetery. Donations may be made in Anne’s memory to Blue Mountain Cemetery Fund or Knox Presbyterian Church.
