Obituary of Dave McDaniel
LINACY – Alexander David “Dave” McDaniel, 70, Linacy, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Clarence Earle and Mildred May (Waite) McDaniel. Prior to retirement, Dave was employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation for over 35 years as a grader operator. Following retirement, he continued to operate graders for Blaine F. MacLane Excavation Ltd., Williams Brothers Ltd. and most recently, the Department of Transportation. Dave dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his wife, children and grandchildren. Riding on his Harley Davidson Ultra Classic with his wife, Dellia and many friends was a pleasure he cherished. They were also accompanied by their children, grandchildren and friends on many memorable cruises and Florida trips. Dave enjoyed summers at the cottage in Chance Harbour and the weekly card games with family and friends. He had a special relationship with his grandchildren, actively involved in their hockey, volleyball, dance and singing pursuits. Dave was a gentleman, who lived at peace with others, always willing to offer a helping hand whenever possible. He led by example and leaves an inspiring work ethic, toughness, unwavering loyalty and love of family.
Surviving are his wife and soulmate of 46 years, Dellia (Foote); son, Luke McDaniel and his children, Emily Langille, Kerri Anne and Ava Mae McDaniel, Linacy; daughter, Sara (Joe) Wong and their children, Tyler, Kassidi and Gavin Wong, Linacy; sisters, Karen Foley, New Glasgow; Linda (Will) Roddick, Loch Katrine; brother, Brian (Hilda) McDaniel, Grand Forks, B.C.; sister-in-law, Marsha McGee, Edmonton, Alta.; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by father and mother-in-law, Clifford and Muriel (Crooks) Foote; brothers-in-law, Donald Foley and Frank McGee.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30th in the chapel with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating.
