Obituary of Marjorie Wilson

NEW GLASGOW / PORT HAWKESBURY - Elizabeth Marjorie Wilson, 95, New Glasgow and Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born on November 12, 1914 in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Rose (DeCoste) Levangie. She was a devoted wife, mother and beloved grandmère to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish and prayer group, Port Hawkesbury. She was the last surviving charter member of St. John the Baptist CWL, New Glasgow. Marjorie was a member of The Port Hawkesbury Evergreen Club and a former member of Steeltown Friendly Group, Trenton. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her card club friends for over 50 years and teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to play. She is survived by her children, George, Oxford; Mark (Dorothy), Trenton; Mary (Sandy) MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; Walter (Muriel), Enfield; Elizabeth (Graham) MacLean, Dartmouth; Kevin (Crystal), Guelph, Ont.; Charmaine (Dale) Jenkins, Trenton; sister, Sister Mary Edna Levangie CND, Sydney Mines; 11 grandchildren;11 great grandchildren; niece, Rosemary (Ernie) Davey, Naples, Fla.; nephews, Charlie (Fran) Gerrior, Beverly, Mass. USA; Ebbie (Kathy) Wilson, Trenton. She was predeceased by her husband, George; sisters, Mary Jane Gerrior, Hazel Levangie, Grace Levangie and Stella in infancy. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec 18th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec 19th in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Marjorie’s memory to the Marion Residence Retirement Home, 295 Main Street, Port Hood, NS B0E 2W0 or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society. A heartfelt thank-you is extended from the family to Dr. Park, Dr. Farrell, and the nursing staff at the Aberdeen Hospital for their professionalism, kindness and care over the past six weeks. “Our mom lived her life devoted to God, Church, family and friends. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord...”
