Obituary of Russell Leslie Carey
MACLELLAN’S BROOK – Russell Leslie Carey, 55, MacLellan’s Brook, formerly of Australia, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow in the arms of his wife, Chris.
Born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, he was a son of Kevin Carey, Australia and the late Barbara (Williams) Carey. Russell’s love for Chris was unbounded, having been married for 10 years; they resided in both Pictou County and Australia. After his diagnosis with terminal cancer, Russell and Chris moved back to Pictou County so that she would have the support of her family.
Surviving are his wife, Christina D. “Chris” (Wilson) (Vance) Carey; daughter, Justine (Daniel) Cameron, Australia; step-daughter, Tanya Vance, New Glasgow; son, Christopher Carey, Australia; stepsons, David (Jennifer) Vance, British Columbia; Bryon Vance, New Glasgow; step¬-granddaughter, Sierra Vance; brothers, Steven, Robert and Johnny, Australia; mother-in-law, Josephine “Josie” Wilson, Fraser’s Mountain; numerous, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara; sister, Julie Ann Carey; father-in-law, Samuel “Sam” Wilson.
There will be no visitation at Russell’s request. A private graveside service will be held in Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society. Arrangements are entrust to P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
