Obituary of Nicholas Cornish
TRENTON – Nicholas “Nick” Cornish, 87, Trenton, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Ephraim and Melania Cornish. Nick owned and operated Cornish Variety, Trenton for many years, retiring in 2000. In earlier years, he owned and operated the former Cornish’s Twin Pops, a local manufacturer of frozen novelties. For many years he operated several concession stands with Bill Lynch Shows. He was a member of the former St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Trenton. Nick enjoyed music, reading and traveling. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Edna (MacPhee); daughters, Lynn (Stephen) Spinney, Paradise; Joye (Robert) Higgins, New Glasgow; sons, Dale (Charmaine) Cornish, Avondale; Rene (Amanda) Cornish, Toney River; grandchildren, William, David, Christopher, Stephanie, Alexander and Emmerice.
He was predeceased by a son in infancy; sister, Anna Chomych; brother, Bill.
A private funeral service will be held with interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery.
