Obituary of Vera Maude Butts
ABERCROMBIE – Vera Maude “Maudie” Butts, 72, Valley View Villa, Riverton, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010 in the Villa, surrounded by her family.
Born in Abercrombie, she was a daughter of the late George Edward and Christena May (Clyburne) Stuart. She was a devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Westville. Maudie enjoyed gardening, reading, crafts, playing cards, watching figure skating and hockey. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Surviving are her daughters, Belinda Butts (David Latulippe), New Glasgow; Wanda (John) MacLean, Stellarton; Bonnie Butts, New Glasgow; Wendy (Mark) Crawford, Westville; Becky Butts (Jason Sample), Westville; son, Jason Butts, Halifax; sisters, Shirley (Stan) Vachel, Trenton; Gloria Allen, New Glasgow; Katherine (Keith) Lennox, Ontario; brothers, Ned Peckham, Port Hawkesbury; Robert Peckham, Toronto, Ont.; Geordie Stuart, Stellarton; Donnie (Lucy) Stuart, Abercrombie; Ernie Stuart, New Glasgow; brother-in-law, Louie (Janet) Butts, Goshen; grandchildren, Tyler and Zachary Butts; Kayla and Jonathan MacLean; Joshua, Justin and Joseph Butts; Tevin and Kegan Crawford; Riley Sample and Madeline MacKinnon; great-granddaughters, Meleena, Hayley and Jada; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wayne Robert Butts; sisters, Helen MacNeil, Gladys Ryan; brothers, Jimmy Stuart, John and Reginald Peckham.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 30th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31st in the chapel with Mr. Anders Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Maudie’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
