Obituary of Brenda Bonenfant Bossé

STELLARTON, N.S. – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful sister, aunt, and much loved friend Brenda Bonenfant Bossé, 51, Stellarton, Nova Scotia on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, N.S., surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Edmundston, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Laurent and Rita (Pelletier) Bonenfant. Brenda was employed as a translator with Sobeys Inc., Stellarton, for 14 years. Previous to this she worked for many years in the food and tourism industries. A faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton, she enjoyed helping others and volunteered with the Aberdeen Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and in earlier years, with Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou. Her passion for food taught many of us of the joy of gathering together to celebrate the better things in life - like birthdays, family gatherings, and anytime we had any reason to celebrate life. She made the most of every opportunity that presented itself. Brenda was especially thrilled with the opportunity to meet and cook with Chef Jamie Oliver. She will be dearly missed by those she loved. Her most loved phrase was “It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.” This is the way she lived. Her message to her friends is “Life is short. Eat dessert first”. Surviving are her sisters, Nicole (Lucien) Michaud, Baker Lake, N.B.; Norma (Sheldon) Court, Escuminac, Qué.; brothers, Gérald (Cécile), Baker Brook, N.B.; Gaëtan (Lise), Edmundston, N.B.; Émilien (Gisèle), Moncton, N.B.; Nelson (Ghislaine), Edmundston, N.B.; Gilles, Dieppe, N.B.; Laurien (Gilberte), Sussex, N.B.; Réjean (Diane), Edmundston, N.B; Michel (Carole), St. Jacques, N.B.; former husband, Alain Bossé, Pictou, N.S.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter born into Heaven, Carmen-Rita and her brother, Donald. The family will receive visitors Friday, August 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, N.S. Music and Eulogy, followed by Memorial Mass, 10 a.m. Saturday, August 13, in Our Lady Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Barrett Clare-Johnston presiding. The family will also receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, August 14, in JB Côté Funeral Home, Edmundston, N.B. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Église Sacré-Cœur-de-Marie, Baker Brook, N.B. at 4 p.m. Monday, August 15 with Bishop Claude Champagne o.m.i., presiding.
