Obituary of Richard C. McQuinn
NEW GLASGOW - Richard Clarence McQuinn, 87, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Plymouth passed away, Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the Manor.
Born in Sussex, N.B., he was a son of the late John Hedley and Mary Viola (Cunningham) McQuinn. Richard was employed for many years as an ice cream maker with the former Sussex Cheese and Butter Factory. Moving to New Glasgow in 1965, he was employed with several employers before joining MacLean’s Beverages (Maritime), retiring from Pepsi as a beverage mixer. Richard was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow where he had served in the choir for many years. In younger years, he enjoyed playing horse shoes and bowling. While living in Sussex, he was the drummer in a local band, “The Swingers”. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Matilda Elizabeth McQuinn, New Glasgow; daughter, Mary (Aubrey) Fequet, MacPherson’s Mills; sons, Bob (Susan) McQuinn, Truro; David (Mildred) McQuinn, Hay River, N.W.T.; Richard (Veronica) McQuinn, Trenton; sister, Helen Bedard, Niagara Falls; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Kaye Lively; brother, Arthur.
In honour of Richard’s wishes, a private gathering and service will be held.
