Obituary of Evelyn R. Adamson

STELLARTON – Evelyn R. (Hopton) Adamson, 84, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Stellarton, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in the manor, surrounded by her family. Born on July 25, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Sydney and Elizabeth Hopton. Evelyn resided in Glen Haven Manor for the past 2.5 years, having previously resided at Hillcrest Seniors, Little Harbour Road for four years. She was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton. Managing Dorlene’s at Highland Square Mall with her daughter, Carol for approximately 10 years was one of the highlights of her life. Following she was employed with the Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library for several years spending time on the bookmobile meeting residents throughout the county, sharing her great sense of humour with everyone. Evelyn enjoyed a true love of nature and possessed a real kindness for all animals. She found great joy in time spent at the beach with her son, Michael, or near the ocean, which always made her smile. Evelyn was an independent and strong willed person, who’s philosophy was if something needed to be done, just do it. She greatly enjoyed attending parades and special events. She especially enjoyed the sound of the bagpipes played by her daughter, Stacey. Evelyn was a former band mother for the Balmoral Pipe Band.
