Obituary of Perry David Paris
NEW GLASGOW - Perry David Paris, 67, New Glasgow, passed away suddenly, September 21, 2010, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the seventh child born to the late Freeman Archibald and Violet Agatha (Jewell) Paris. Perry had been employed with the former Bagnell’s Dry Cleaning Ltd., Maritime Steel and Foundries Ltd. and the former W.A. O’Farrell Chev Olds Ltd. He was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow and the Men’s Brotherhood. He enjoyed walking, talking and visiting friends in the neighbourhood. He was an avid bowler; few in the Industrial League could best his score. Perry had a passion for flowers, lawn care, landscaping and gardening. He enjoyed spending time in his new utility shed, his private space, where visitors were invited in to sign a guest book. Perry had faced many health challenges since having a stroke in August 1994. He was grateful for the support and care he received from health care professionals, family and friends.
Surviving are his daughter, Laurie (Steve) MacLean, New Glasgow; son, Perry Richard Paris (Jonathan), Halifax; brothers, Dr. Peter (Adrienne) Paris, Skillman, N.J.; Francis (Joan) Paris New Glasgow; Herb (Monica) Paris, Oakville, Ont.; Henderson (Carol) Paris, New Glasgow; sisters, Cherry Paris, Sandra “Sandy” (Bent) Andersen, Beverley “Debbie” (Ron) Bonvie, all of New Glasgow; granddaughter, Justine MacLean; nieces and nephews, Valerie Lynn (David) Dent, New York City, N.Y.; Peter Brett Paris, Princeton, N.J.; Sandy Dee Paris, Robin (Malik) Adams, Marc (Sharon) Paris, all of Halifax; Jonathan (Elena) Paris, North Bay, Ont; Jordan (Karen) Paris, Stouffville, Ont; Timothy Paris, Ontario; Nigel (Jill) Paris, Milton, Ont; Deanna (Salem) Mohamed, New Glasgow; Danny Andersen (Lori), Green Hill; Cindy Bonvie, Dartmouth; Cpl. Glenn (Amanda) Bonvie, New Glasgow; Jeremy Paris (Jennifer), Bermuda; Jared Paris (Tanya), New Glasgow; great-nieces and great-nephews, Lynnette and David Dent, Aalyiah Paris, Tanisha and Tishawna Paris, Lincoln Paris, Sydnie and Joshua Paris, Amare Adams, Ahmed Mohamed, Brodie Bonvie and Hope Buell.
He was predeceased by his sister, Mary M. Paris; brother, Angus F. Paris.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, September 25th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 26th in Second United Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Peter Paris officiating. Interment will be in Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow. Donations may be made in Perry’s memory to Second United Baptist Church.
