Obituary of Robert Hector MacLean

ABERCROMBIE - Robert Hector MacLean,81, Abercrombie passed away peacefully Saturday, May 26, 2012 in Glen Haven Manor, surrounded by family. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Hector and Anne Florence (Pitts) MacLean. He had been employed at the Trenton Works for several years and then with Scott Paper as a machinist millwright for over 40 years, retiring due to ill health. Robert enjoyed getting out on his ATV and was a member of the Pictou County ATV Club. He also enjoyed playing hockey, blue grass music and his camp at Goshen. Robert was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Surviving are his son, Steven MacLean, Abercrombie; sister, Pearl (George) Coady, Abercrombie; brother-in-law, Alex "Sandy" (Elizabeth) MacDonald, Linacy; granddaughters, Danikka and Deanne; grandson, Donovan LeBlanc; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Freda Joyce (Roy); sister, Joan O’Brien. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where the service will held 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Ryan King presiding. Interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Robert’s memory to Abercrombie Cemetery.
