Obituary of Henry Alexander MacLean
WEST RIVER – Henry Alexander “Sandy” MacLean, 68, West River, formerly of Abercrombie, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 in Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Restorative Care Unit, Pictou.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Henry Harry and Margaret Taylor McLean. Prior to retirement, Sandy was employed with the Department of Highways and in earlier years was employed with the former Trenton Works. He was a loyal supporter and active member of the Conservative Party of Canada. Sandy served on Peter MacKay’s executive committee. During numerous federal and provincial campaigns, he worked diligently for the conservative’s. Sandy enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed acrylic painting and never missed watching a NASCAR race on TV, cheering for Karl Edwards. Sandy cherished spending time with grandsons, Keigan and Nikko, and nephew, Taylor, sharing his passion for life.
Surviving are his daughter, Cynthia (Ismail), Halifax; grandsons, Keigan (Karleigh) and Nikko, Halifax; step-sons, David (Leanne), New Glasgow; Jamie, Abercrombie; brothers, Douglas (Kathy), Eureka; George (Brenda), Lethbridge, Alta.; nephew, Taylor; niece, Holly; many cousins.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday May 11th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday May 12th in the chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery with reception to follow in the Abercrombie Community Centre.
