NEW GLASGOW – David William Johnston, 62, New Glasgow, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Yellowknife, he was a son of the late David and Anne Johnston. Moving from Yellowknife to New Glasgow in 1987 to work as a mechanic, he was employed with MacCulloch’s Truck Service. In 1996, he met the love of his life, his wife Sonya, who lovingly named him “Boo”. David was an avid hockey fan, and greatly enjoyed watching “his team”, the Montreal Canadians with grandson, Daniel. He possessed a kind heart and free spirit. David was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, who will be dearly missed by those he loved. Surviving are his wife, Sonya; daughters; Natalie (Colin MacNeil); Shauna (Shawn) Boudreau; Brittany (Lauren) Salter; son, David, all of New Glasgow; grandchildren, Daniel (Emily), Brayden, Riley, Tyler, Dominick and Mackela; sisters; Kelly and Karen; brothers; Steve and Michael. In honour of David’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life, privately. If desired, donations in David’s memory may be made to his family.
