Obituary of Isabel Gertrude Tucker
STELLARTON – Isabel Gertrude Tucker, 83, Stellarton, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late James Gordon and Mary Ruth (MacLean) Henderson. Upon graduating from the Aberdeen School of Nursing in 1950, she was employed in Truro, Cobourg, Ont. and Fort Erie, Ont. She retired from the Aberdeen Hospital as a valued member of the staff after many years of service. Isabel was a life member of the Aberdeen Hospital Alumni Association where she faithfully convened the sick and visiting committee for many years. She was a member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton. Isabel was an avid Blue Jay’s fan and enjoyed playing cards, especially 45’s. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Surviving are her sons, Randy (Darlene), Regan, Stellarton; Richard (Valerie), Abercrombie; grandchildren, Allison (Matt) MacNutt, Sara, Deanna, Michael and Jared Tucker; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, James and Doug.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Jan 1st in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan 2nd in the chapel with Rev. John Roy presiding. Private interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow.
