Obituary of Margaret Patricia Cook

LINACY – Margaret Patricia “Pat” Cook, 73, Linacy, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Albert Martell and Jean Evelyn (DeYoung) Clyburne. In earlier years, Pat was employed as waitress with the former Cosy Corner and Turn-A-Bout. She was employed with the Aberdeen Hospital, Sterilization Unit for several years. In later years, she owned and operated, Pat’s Costume’s. Pat was a wonderful baker and host. Many deemed the day “lucky” when they visited her home and left with a loaf of home-made bread and rolls. Pat was an “original” scrapbooker, collecting items of local history which she would share at the appropriate time. She shared a love of antique cars with her husband, Harvey, and was a member of the Pictou County Antique Car Club. Pat was an active member of the Linacy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years and was always willing to assist in any community activity. When she had time to relax, she spent many hours painting by number. Pat possessed a compassionate, forgiving spirit and the ability to be lovingly truthful. Surviving are her husband, Harvey Treby; sons, Donnie (Cathy) Cook, Frasers Mountain; Philip Cook, Linacy; Kevin (Allison) Cook, Turner Valley, Alta.; daughter, Tanya (Graham) Garvey, Calgary, Alta.; grandchildren, Ryan, Nikki, Kayla, Kareck, Ayanna, Eva and Lilly; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brooke, Noah and Genevieve; sisters, Elaine (John) Russell, New Glasgow; Verna (Charlie) Paton, Linacy; brother, Stewart Clyburne, Country Harbour; sister-in-law, Lorraine Clyburne, Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Brian Clyburne; sister-in-law, Mary Katherine Clyburne; former husband, Allison Cook. In honour of Pat’s life, her family will celebrate her life privately and hold a public celebration of her life in the future when possible.
