Obituary of Florence Pearl Coady

ABERCROMBIE – Florence Pearl Coady, 91, Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou, formerly of Abercrombie, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Hector and Ann Florence (Pitts) MacLean. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton where she served as a 50-year member of the CWL. In earlier years, Pearl was a dental assistant with the late Dr. Adamson in New Glasgow. Following, she was employed with the former Woolworth’s and Woolco prior to retirement. Pearl enjoyed contributing to her community, serving as a life member of the Women’s Institute (assisting with the Pictou Exhibition for many years), member of the Home and School, Abercrombie Community Center and Pictou County Council of Churches. As a 4-H leader, she taught (and enjoyed) sewing, knitting and crocheting for many years. Pearl enjoyed the Arts, especially music and acrylic painting, of which, she produced beautiful paintings. Above all, she was a wonderful homemaker, who always put her family first. For Pearl, “life has changed; not ended!” Surviving are her daughters, Ann Marie Coady, Abercrombie; Judy (Will) Reese, Fort Worth, Texas; son, Robert “Robbie” (Joan) Coady, Blue Mountain; grandchildren, Elizabeth, David and John; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George Whitman Coady; sister, Joan O’Brien; brother, Robert Hector MacLean. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 3rd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 4th in the chapel with Father Peter J. MacDonald presiding. Interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in memory of Pearl to Abercrombie Cemetery. The family wish to thank the Maritime Oddfellows Home staff for the wonderful care Pearl received.
