WESTVILLE – Thersa Irene Reid (Smith), 70, Westville formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Timmons) Smith. Thersa was a member of St. Georges Anglican Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Surviving are her husband, Fred; daughters, Linda (Brian) Marcott, Trenton; Mary Playfair, Trenton; son, Derek, Halifax; grandchildren, David (Holly), Josh (Alana), Courtney Marcott, Caitlin, Brandon, Ryan Playfair; great grandchildren, Caiden, Emerson, and Sloane; brothers, Robert “Bubbers” (Charlene), New Glasgow; Allan, Bridgeville; brother in law, Jeff (Cathy) Reid, Calgary, Alta; sister in law, Gillian Sherwood, London, England; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Falen McNulty officiating. Interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in Thersa’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment.
