Obituary of Mary Marie Brewer

PINE TREE – Mary Marie Brewer, 81, Pine Tree, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at home. Born in Telford, she was a daughter of the late Alexander “Alex” and Mary Rector. Mary was employed for over 20 years with Valley View Villa, Riverton, retiring at the age of 60 due to ill health. She enjoyed playing bingo throughout the county and the Thursday Kinsman TV bingo. Mary was an avid baker, especially, bread and for her preservatives, strawberry jam and pickles. She was a generous lady, who especially loved Christmas, having all this year’s gifts bought and wrapped. Keeping her bird feeder full was a priority, she tenderly cared for all the little creatures. Mary enjoyed shopping and going to McDonald’s for burger, fries and coffee. She will be dearly missed by all she loved. Surviving are husband, John; daughters, Frances (John) Murray, Pine Tree; Rosemary Brewer (Brian Thomson), Ottawa, Ont.; sons, Alexander “Alex” (Audrey), Thorburn; Harold, Pine Tree; Angus, Scotsburn; grandchildren, Lisa (Eddie), John, Lorraine (Alex), James (Jen), Luke, Gavin, Simon, Michelle, Christopher (Courtney), Stefan (Chelsea), Ryan and Mary; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Patricia, Edward, Kristen, Jake, Leland, Jacob, Kinsley, Andi, Lexi, Jaymelynn, Katie, Kyle, Alivia, Christopher Jr., Owen and Bennett; great, great-grandchildren, Jack and Wyatt; sisters, Laura Fraser, Truro; Florence MacAulay, Pine Tree; Barbara (Bob) Beaton, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Emily Rector, Coalburn; brothers, John (Diane) Rector, Pine Tree; Jimmy (Millie) Rector, Pine Tree; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by infant son, Theodore; granddaughter, Dana; son-in-law, Donnie MacKay; brothers, Angus, King and Hibbert “Hibbie”; sister-in-law, Vivian Rector; brother-in-law, Roddy MacAulay. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, August 24th in Union Presbyterian Church Hall, Thorburn. Donations may be made Mary’s memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. (Please click on link to donate online)
